ROOTS is a dance between island memory and ancestral ground - a collection about belonging, remembering, and all the ordinary moments that become part of who we are.
I was born in Mauritius, the fourth generation of a Chinese immigrant family.
Growing up on the island, sometimes there was a distance between my roots and the life I knew,
something I could feel but didn’t yet know how to name.
Then I came to China.
Fate brought me here to collect pieces of myself I didn’t know I had been missing.
Here, something ancient and familiar awakened.
A longing I had never learned to recognize finally found its language.
My grandparents are everywhere here.
I see them in the faces of people going about their days.
In the way tea is held, music drifts through the trees, bodies move slowly in dance, the way food is made.
There is a softness to life here. A magic I recognize in my bones.
I am home again.
This collection is a dance between island memory and ancestral ground.
A bridge between the land I was born on and the land that remembers me.

Music filled the house so naturally and was part of everyday life.

The spiral appears always in nature, in shells, plants, flowers and galaxies. The Source pendant is inspired by this ancient form and its endless movement outward and inward. It is a reminder that life does not always move in a straight line. We grow, wander, change and begin again. Yet somewhere within us remains a source, a place we can always return to. This is a talisman for finding our way back to ourselves, wherever life carries us.

“Feyaz” means leaf in Mauritian Creole. This simple gold band is inspired by the irregular lines and forms found in nature. I love that nothing in nature is perfectly shaped or completely symmetrical, yet it feels exactly as it should. Feyaz carries this idea in its organic form. Its a reminder of the beauty found in imperfections, in the marks of the hand, and in allowing things to simply be as they are.

“Fler” means flower in Mauritian Creole. Flowers have always been part of my memories of Mauritius — growing freely in gardens, along roads, and among the tropical landscape. These earrings came from that familiar shape and the feeling it carries for me. A small piece of the island, and of the nature that continues to find its way into my work wherever I am.

BOK CHOY PIECES
Nourishment · Memory · Connection
The texture of this piece was created using an actual bok choy leaf. I allowed the leaf to dry before pressing its surface into the piece, capturing its delicate veins, folds and imperfections. What remained was an imprint of the plant itself, a texture that could never be repeated in exactly the same way. Bok choy connects me like a bridge between memories of my grandmother’s cooking in Mauritius and, later, to my life in China.
